Water Quality: Clearly an Important Issue
Teaching students about the science behind hazardous algae blooms is critical. What contributes to this problem and how can it be addressed? In this session participants will perform water quality tests, use data to show the development of cultural eutrophication, discover what factors are important to water quality and what people can do to prevent water quality degradation.

Go Green! Renewable Ethanol Makes the Difference!
Use the engineering design process (from EIE) to create ethanol in the classroom. Teach students how renewable fuels provide cleaner air, energy security, and save water. This issue-based lesson provides students with a simulation and facts that will enable them to answer the debate: Food vs. Fuel. Free ethanol fuel test kit will be given by the Ohio Corn Marketing Program.
