Learn about the FREE Kent State 5 grad-credit Earth Systems Science PD program funded by Ohio Dept of Higher Education. We will engage teachers in inquiry-based Google Earth virtual field trips to teach Earth and environmental science content.

Using 'Dead' and New Technology to Promote Higher-Level Thinking About the Periodic Table
This activity helps students understand periodic trends and the challenges faced with creating the modern-day periodic table. Students will look at "dead" technology to create their own periodic table and use new technology to share and explain their results.

Water Quality: Clearly an Important Issue
Teaching students about the science behind hazardous algae blooms is critical. What contributes to this problem and how can it be addressed? In this session participants will perform water quality tests, use data to show the development of cultural eutrophication, discover what factors are important to water quality and what people can do to prevent water quality degradation.
