Using Fossils to Reconstruct Ancient Environments
In this interactive presentation, participants, acting like paleontologists, use Ohio fossils to learn about past conditions and the geologic time scale. The session uses the 5E learning cycle model and integrates earth science content, scientific practices, and literacy standards.

Foldables & Food Labs
This program will highlight easy food labs that can be used with Ohio Science standards in middle school. A foldable is an easy way to present key vocabulary terms as students try to make sense of what they learn in order to master their science content standards. Knowing what a word means and being able to visualize a food model are fundamental to promoting literacy in science.

Using Weather Inquiry to get to Cloud 9
What is white, fluffy and made way up high? Learn how to engage children in a unit about clouds and the effects they have on our lives. Through the 5e learning cycle, real world connections, literature integration and hands on experiences, children will explore how clouds are formed and the influences they have on the weather.

In this session, participants will be introduced to the LIGHT Project, a collaboration among the Darke County ESC, the Matt Light Foundation and the Miami Valley Leave No Child Inside initiative.
