The Ohio State University
PhD Candidate
Columbus Ohio
I am a lifelong science learner with a BS in mechanical engineering, a masters in mechanical engineering product design, and will be receiving my PhD this year in nanoengineering and biological design. My focus is in a field called DNA Origami, where we design nanostructures out of DNA to probe and ultimately mimic biological systems and machinery. In addition to building nanostructures with a purpose, I took on the 3 year task of making The Ohio State University Marching Band's famous Script Ohio out of DNA, which landed me a Guinness World Record in 2015. I am also very active in science education, teaching students ranging from kindergarden to undergraduate engineering. With the United Skates of America, I developed STEM program geared towards teaching students the STEM in roller skating. I developed most of the lesson plans, teach the events here in Columbus, and consult to help develop incoming educators around the country.
