Newbury High School
Chemistry, Physics, AP Physics , Environemental, and Forensic Science Teacher
Newbury High School
Newbury High School is a small rural high school in Geauga County. It is a k-12 building with approximately 500 total students. Being that it is a small school I get to wear many hats and I am only in my third year of teaching. I teach Chemistry, Physics, AP Physics, Environmental and Forensic Science and my medical and medical device background in my prior career life is definitely beneficial to my students. I am also the Academic Team Adviser and the Assistant Boys Varsity Soccer Coach and a member of the Anti-HIB, NHS Selection, Senior Scholarship Selection, and Principal Hiring Committees. This year is my third year being a co-instructor for the countywide Career Days for the four area high schools where we teach them pertinent resume writing and interviewing skills. This initiative partners with several area businesses where the students get to listen to what they feel a good candidate is, interact with and be interviewed by these professionals. This semester I also started teaching at Kent State University the inquiry course for Science Student Teachers. I am that last step before graduation where we cover their student teaching experience, TPA, licensing, professionalism, interviewing, and other pertinent classroom skills. As hectic as this may sound, I absolutely love my job!
